Guys,
I’m afraid the status quo is not working for me. Assuming nothing changes, I’m going to bow out as well.
I feel bad about it because I did intend to stay long term when I joined the league but there’s clearly something that’s not working, here.
We now have 3 vacancies. Last year there were four. Only three original participants left after only three years of activity. That high level of turnover cannot simply be attributed to individual circumstances. If the participants who have left had been enjoying their experience, they (some at least) would have cut something else from their busy schedules.
I also see that the Kl10 with the same set up seems to suffer from the same issues, namely 1) league imbalance, 2) low activity and 3) high turnover –which tends to confirm my feeling that there is a deeper structural issue at play.
Here is my fear: We’ll get 3 guys we don’t really know, who will take over three shitty teams, make some bad trades due to inexperience (I’m guilty of it, it’s normal –there’s a learning curve to any league –in particular one where some participants are intimately familiar with the setup), and end up leaving because they’re having no fun.
All this to say that I don’t think this is simple as “weeding out” inactive GMs and then hope everything will be fine.
I see the current GMs in the Kl10 are discussing possible ways to fix the issues. I'm not sure what they've proposed thus far achieves that, but I'm certainly willing to keep an open mind if anyone has a brilliant idea.
