In the past 24 hours I have moved 42-year old Teemu Selanne, 40-year old Jaromir Jagr, 37-year old Martin St. Louis and 35-year old Jarome Iginla for 20-somethings Max Pacioretty, Ryan Callahan, Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford plus 20-year old Alex Burmistrov.
I have also swapped 33-year old Brian Campbell for 29-year old Dennis Wideman and awesome but "lost in the woods" 32-year old Ilya Bryzgalov for awesome but career backup 30-year old Mike Smith. (Also added 29-year Tom Gilbert to give me a complete eight-person bench).
Finally, went from having no picks in the 2012 draft to having 9th overall plus 4th, 5th and 6th rounders.
I did retain a fairly impressive top-six of 30-somethings Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Joe Thornton, Henrik Zetterberg, Scott Hartnell and Patrick Sharp, my defence is passable and I have Tim Thomas as my second goaltender.
So I ask you my ASKL brothers: What do you think of the massive overhaul after a second place finish in 2011-12?

I'd feel better about it if I had Callahan!
jk...kinda.
Nice turnover, brother, that's the way to rotate.

The overhaul is complete.
According to last season's pool stats my current roster would have generated just shy of 1400 (1399.58) points last season, leaving me very much in the hunt. Maybe not second place, but in the hunt.
In moving my 35-plus crowd out, my average age has gone from 33.2 to 27.25 and I now have four draft picks later this month as opposed to none at the end of the season.
Really like the Sedins and Thornton as my top line buoyed by incoming youngsters like MaxPac, Lucic and O'Reilly.
And on defence, Campbell and Kronwall will be missed but love having Suter and Wideman.
In goal, Mike Smith is a player I really like -- and a little less flaky than Bryz -- and for my No. 2 goalie, hopefully Brodeur stays, Elliott unseats Halak and/or Lindback gets traded.
Can't forget my bench. Goodbye to Umberger and Tanguay, hello Craig Smith and Zack Kassian.

I think a lot of us feel we can compete for second place. I'd say the league has a lot of parity, if it wasn't for one team.
Scoring around 1500 pts will wrap up second place. I project that, with a healthy season from my core players and a decent rookie season from Yakupov, that I can score around 1465. Of course that isn't likely to happen because I'm bound to get hit hard by injuries and some players I am hoping to repeat their numbers from last season likely won't, but at least I feel (like most of us probably do) that second place is an option.
Unfortunately first place is long gone for everyone but PM.
