I have a proposal.
To determine the free agency priority list (who would get top priority, etc.), I am proposing we each rank the teams in the league from who has best to worst. Everyone would send me a ranking of 9 teams (excluding your own team).
I think this would be a logical and fair way to decide.
Any thoughts?

I thought I'd add my reasoning. The Inaugural draft and Inaugural prospect draft are opposites in how they start so everyone is on equal footing. I don't think the guys picking at the top of the main draft should then be "punished" by getting last priority. During the season, priority is determined by the order of the standings so I thought this would be a fair way to do it.

Hmmm I dunno if that's a fair way to go about it... I mean it's all subjective about who's team is best and who's worst. It's probably near impossible to judge as well since we don't have the actual rankings in front of us. We'd all just be going about it based on "name" of players more than anything. I'm still finding it hard to see where my team sits compared to the rest of the league and probably won't know until the season actually starts with stats in front of my face...
I'd be happier if it was just put into a randomizer and just randomly ordered off the internet somewhere that's probably the fairest way...
Or what about ranking our teams based on "skating mechanics" or "mental fitness"? I have Heatley so I think I should have first priority because he's shiet at both and I'm at a disadvantage because I don't own Kovalchuk or Parise...

I didn't even think about the random order generator. I think that is a better suggestion.

I'm going to go ahead and do the random order generator. It's how we determined the draft order so it's the fairest way to go. Thanks Ryan.

No problem with using the random order generator, but in the future I think decisions like this should be something that we vote on. For instance, I would have voted for ranking the teams instead of a random order generator.

Hmmm just a thought, would it be more fair if we ran the random generator through a couple of times and then just average all of the results to come with a final list? Running it through just once doesn't seem random enough...
If there is a tie maybe we take a look at the number of low results that the tied people have, for example, person X has results of 1, 1, 5, 10, 3, person Y has 4, 4, 4, 4, 4... then we give the earlier option to person X since he had a few #1's...
Just a thought.

so after we draft all the prospect, we could hypothetically drop all of them for roster players?

so after we draft all the prospect, we could hypothetically drop all of them for roster players? yes...only one at a time, each week...assuming the player you want to pick up isn't grabbed by someone else ahead of you in the Priority List

Just a thought. Ryan this is a good thought and very common. Lots of ways to skin a cat, but I liked this option. Definitely not a fan of a once run random order. it's not random.

quick question, you mentioned I had some prospects on my bench, but I though that was ok if youactually intend to use them?

It doesn't make sense to have them on your bench. Once they are called up to your roster, they lose eligibility. Obviously since the season hasn't started, they are fine but it makes more sense to leave them on your prospect team for now.
